About Us

Origin and early history of the 4/14 Window Movement

  • A divine seed (2008): The movement began in 2008, inspired by what founders Dr. Luis Bush and Rev. Nam Soo Kim felt was a divine calling at Promise Church in New York. They began to perceive the 4 to 14 age demographic as the most critical “spiritual window” in a child’s life.

  • First Global Summit (2009): The initiative quickly expanded beyond its founders. The inaugural Global Summit for the 4/14 Window was held in New York in September 2009. This event brought together Christian leaders, including the presidents of OneHope and Compassion International, who shared a common vision for focusing on children.

  • Global expansion (2009–2018): Over the next decade, the movement grew internationally, holding global leadership retreats and summits in various countries, including Ethiopia, Singapore, Seoul, and Bali.

  • Emphasis on collaboration: The movement is defined by its collaborative spirit, partnering with churches, mission organizations, and other groups to achieve its vision.

Our Mandate

The mandate of the 4/14 Window movement is to mobilize the global Christian Church to focus on reaching, rescuing, rooting, and releasing children aged 4 to 14. This age group is considered the most receptive to spiritual and developmental input, and the movement aims to empower them to become agents of change for the Kingdom of Heaven.

The mandate is built upon four strategic pillars, known as the “Four R’s”: Reach, Rescue, Root and Release!

The 4 R’s

  • Reach: To serve and evangelize the generation of 4- to 14-year-olds around the world, presenting them with the Gospel message.
  • Rescue: To protect and save children from oppression, spiritual deception, abuse, and exploitation. This addresses the immense physical and spiritual poverty faced by many children, especially those in the 10/40 Window.
  • Root: To intentionally disciple children in their faith during this formative period, so they are firmly grounded in Christ and the Bible. The movement believes that a child’s spiritual identity is largely set by age 13.
  • Release: To empower children and youth to become active participants and “partners” in mission, enabling them to share the Gospel with their peers, families, and communities. This contrasts the traditional view of children as merely a mission field to be reached.
